Here is another of our Nikon D5500 DSLR Reviews

I have always liked the D5000 range of Nikon DSLR cameras as it is not a bulky size body and super lightweight 420g that performs extremely well with the excellent Nikon build quality. However it is not weather sealed. For even a more solid built water dust resistant model you would look at the more expensive models, so careful standing in the elements. The Nikon D5500 is a great all rounder for eg a family camera for general and travel photography, keen amateur or student.

The Nikon D5500 is the latest in the range and is Nikons first touch screen. Touch screen is really handy for video and also macro photography. With the latest Expeed 4 processor this 24 megapixel body also has built in WiFi which a lot of people are using to quickly process to social media such as facebook, instagram and or email. This has become popular especially when travelling for capturing a low or basic jpeg for Wifi and at the same time retaining a larger jpeg or raw image for later use if required.

This high resolution camera has 39 focus points with many autofocus and scene modes a plenty which has been very popular with those new to DSLR with such presets as dusk/dawn party/indoor, night landscape, close up etc which is a great help and also a special effects setting.

Nikon have a large range of lenses to suit this camera providing that they are AF-S not AF lenses as this camera doesn’t have a built in auto focus motor. The basic lens to get you started is the Nikon AF-S 18-55mm but if you need more zoom there is lots of options. Call Cameras Direct and speak to a photographer who will only be too happy to help you make the right choice for you.
