Nikon 24-85mm f3.5-4.5 VR Lens Review

The following is our transcript of the above video review of the
Nikon 24-85mm f3.5-4.5 VR Lens
Hello Photographers, Tom here from Cameras Direct with another Nikon Lens Review.

Today we’re going to have a quick look at the Nikon AF-s 24-85mm f3.5-4.5 VR Lens.

This is a “FX” lens which means it is for full frame digital SLR’s from Nikon.

As you know you can put it on crop sensors as well and just add your 1.5 crop factor to the focal length.

So the Nikon 24-85mm lens. This is your everyday, walkabout, social photography lens. Great little focal range starting you are wide-angle of 24mm.

24mm will give you a better 86 degree diagonal field of view. Then going up to 85mm which puts you at the
low-end all the ideal portrait range.

Its aperture range is 3.5 to 4.5 variable maximum aperture. So it’s not a hugely fast lens. The price point however is very reasonable on this, makes it a great lens for general photography, without spending the big bucks.

It has the advantage of VR (Vibration Reduction) optical stabilizer to help steady the lens and take the shake out of your hands. This helps to give you sharper photos in low light situations where slower shutter speeds are being used.

It’s an internal focus lens so if you are using a polarizer  when the lens does focus it does not rotate the
end element so it won’t change your polarizing filters affect.

Metal mount and weather sealed as well.

Auto-focus is built into the lens. That is the AF-s designation. It is not a D Series lens so, AF-s that means it will focus on all with the Nikon cameras.

It is a cheap fantastic little lens, great value.

So if you put it on a crop sensor camera it is going to be effectively 36-130mm ish f3.5 – 4.5. Good standard photography stuff. It doesn’t extend out too far.

A nice little lens for your general everyday photography.

So if you are looking for a good value walk around / travel lens then the Nikon 24-85mm f3.5-4.5 VR lens could be your next lens.
