Nikon 18-140mm VR Lens Review

Below you will find the transcript of our Nikon 18-140mm VR Lens Review

Hello Photographers, Tom here from Cameras Direct with another Nikon Lens Review.

Today we going to have a look at Nikon’s 18 to 140 F 3.5 to 5.6 lens. (Nikon 18-140mm f3.5-5.6).

The “kit lens” 18-140mm has proven to be a very popular zoom range especially when you’re purchasing a new cropped sensor DSLR from Nikon. It is a DX Lens which means it is for cropped sensor cameras
like your D3100 D3300 D5300 D5500 D7200 and so on.

The 18-140mm is the equivalent focal range of about 28 to 200. This means it’s ideal for you social
photography, for everyday sort of photography, travel photography. It gives you a nice length for portraits and maybe for kids as well when they’re playing on the playground or playing a sport that’s not too far away where the reach of this will get you nice tight photos.

So it’s a VR lens which means “Vibration Reduction” from Nikon. The VR is going to help you reduce camera shake when hand holding the camera so you can get sharper photos, particularly in low light or when using the longer end of the lens. As you can see, it extends out to not too big a length and comes back down to a nice compact size.

The Nikon 18-140mm uses a 67mm filter size.

We recommend using a UV filter. The focus mechanism is internal so it won’t turn the end element which is great if you’re doing any sort of landscape photography or whatever with a polarizing filter because then it won’t turn that filter for you.

It has a metal mount and believe it or not even their kit lens is like this have weather sealing on the lens mount. That is pretty good value.

Great value lens, great results.  It’s actually a very nice lens for a very good price.

If you’re buying a kit or buying a DSLR cropped sensor,a Nikon DSLR this is a great lens the just general photography so particularly popular with the travel photographers as well.
