The following is our rough transcript.
Hello Photographers, Tom here from Cameras Direct with another Fujinon Lens Review.
Today we are going to have a look at the Fujinon XF 56mm F/1.2 R lens.

For all you Fuji XT 1 users out there or any fuji APSC mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses, this is one of the best lenses you can buy for your Fuji camera.

If you’re looking for a red-hot prime lens for portraiture then look no further.

This 56mm is sublime in fact probably one of the best lenses in the Fuji lineup in terms of sharpness it’s a 56mm f/1.2 lens. Obviously with an APS crop sensor in your Fuji camera you have a 1.5 crop
factor, which turns the 56mm into basically an 85mm f1.2.

At 85mm it is absolutely stunning for portraits. 85mm is going to give you a very compressed perspective. It also means that you’ve got a good working distance for full-length portraits and waist-high portraits. Also with this F/1.2 maximum aperture, gives you very very shallow depth of field. You will be able to isolate your subject from the background and a very smooth creamy bokeh that you get from this lens is also amazing.

So folks if you’re a portrait photographer, wedding photography, this is ideal with your Fuji APSC crop mirrorless camera.
The lens itself is spectacularly made. Very very solid. The 56mm has one of the best manual focus rings I have ever felt quite. Firm and very very smooth if you want to be manual focusing, this is a wonderful thing to do with. Of course the lens has a traditional old aperture ring and the aperture ring is an increment of 3rd’s stops. So obviously from f/1.2 up to f/16 and then you have an “A” sitting there depending on what mode you are using with your camera.

The 56mm lens takes a 62mm filter size and as you can see this is such a beautiful legs, that lovely maximum
aperture f/1.2 lens lets in a lot of light.

It’s not a heavy lens so it’s not going to give you an awkward feel when mounted on your camera.

It quite solid but as I say not too heavy. So folks what else can I say.

The centre sharpness even at f/1.2 is outstanding.

It is above excellent. It’s amazing and as you stop it down the edges and the corners come up dramatically as well in fact at f/5.6 this is unbeatable.

So if you are portrait photographer and a fuji mirrorless camera owner like the XT1 then this is the portrait lens for you.
